Project One

Crackle Milk Pieces

Milk paint has been used for thousands of years by many different cultures: from cave paintings to Egyptian tombs to American barns. The crackle texture both hides and reveals the color beneath it. Significant events in life can shape us, but we can also choose to modify the canvas of life and create and re-create our personal history.

Project Two

Glorious Black & White

I draw.... alot. Even when I'm in a situation where I'm not really expected to draw, a party, a bar, a heated conversation with my husband... I need to draw to explain things to people that can't be explained. So I draw... alot.

Resume

If only tells a part of the story. Maybe that's a good thing.

Bio

The good stuff.

My paintings are moving meditations that inspire people to look beyond the ordinary. They depict spiritual, dream images that emerge from the trance-like state I experience when painting. Many times I have been told that these images help their new keepers navigate major transitions in their lives.

My work explores mythology and pokes fun at social conventions. As a child I was an avid reader of fairy tales and myths from around the world. I find that everyday we create new myths and interpretations of myths that can be traced back to very old stories.

The experience of horse ownership has opened up new artistic vistas. Six years ago, my husband and I adopted a pregnant, Percheron (draft) rescue horse. This was the realization of a life-long dream. Because I live on the Olympic Peninsula, I am influenced by both the sea and the flora of the mountains. The natural forms of sea creatures and the horses are intertwined.
